200m World Record!

I was absolutely delighted to break the World Record for the 200m T42 at the Diamond League meet on Saturday! My time was a 25.69, beating the old record by just under three tenths of a second.

I’ve been training really hard with my track coach, Keith Anton, and all our work on ‘phasing’ my race and honing my running technique seems to be paying off.

We’ve been concentrating on a more relaxed running style as well as trying to explode off the curve. To be able to put it all together when it matters – and in front of a sell out crowd of 17,000 – is very satisfying I can tell you!!

Through this year’s Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week we’ve inspired over 4 million children to try more Olympic and Paralympic sports and achieve their personal best. Between 27 June and 1 July 2011, schools across the country took part in Britain’s biggest school sporting event.

New World Record

I’m delighted to say that the International Paralympic Committee has confirmed my new World Record, set at the BT Paralympic World Cup.

I was running in the same race, the Men’s 400m, as Oscar Pistorius and we both set new records. Mine was a new T42 World record with a time of 57.06s, Oscar set a new T43 World record with a time of 47.28 seconds. This beat his previous best time of 47.49s, set at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.
